Put on Truth (& Be Faithful in the Small Things)

Never did I imagine creating a business revolving around a jewelry brand, but so much of the details of how it came to manifest into what it is today all add up as I look back on our story.

I suppose I've designed my own jewelry since I discovered leather thread and tiny bird and word charms at Hobby Lobby at age 14. True story. And I can remember always cherishing a gold locket with mine and my sister's tiny faces framed inside. Or the charm bracelet I wore proudly that signified all the elements that made up who I was: an artist's palette, a dog paw, a bicycle, a tree...Or even the fact that Jake and I designed our wedding bands together, drawn in his sketchbook in the corner of our favorite mom-and-pop Italian restaurant or that I had him engraving necklaces I’d think of years before EH was even a thought...

...To reflect on little things like this, I smile and nod to these old memories and carry them with me as we go forward into Everyday Heirloom.

Part of what gives so much power to what we're creating at the EH studio comes from Scripture and what it says about adorning ourselves with the Word. A few examples that come to mind...

"She is clothed strength and dignity..." Proverbs 31:25 ESV

"Put on love..."Col. 3:14 ESV

"Hear your father's instruction and forsake not your mother's teaching, for they are a graceful garland for your head and pendants for your neck." Proverbs 1:9, ESV

"Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart." Proverbs 3:3, ESV

Or another translation reads, "Do not let kindness and truth leave you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart." Proverbs 3:3, NASB

You have to know that I love words and the fact that God addresses us with the specificity of tying His promises and instruction around our necks, or using pendants as reminders, and engraving truth and kindness on our hearts...I know that because of what God says here, Everyday Heirloom has a place and a purpose as it continues to grow. Scripture like this make me realize Everyday Heirloom was never an accident, but a providential landmark in our lives that will serve as an Ebeneezer of His goodness and faithfulness as we surrender our artistic gifts unto Him.

So while the idea of designing jewelry may seem small in comparison to what we've been doing in the world of fine art, it carries with it the weight of His Word and His glory. "Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin..." Zechariah 4:10, NLT

"If you are faithful in little things you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won't be honest with greater responsibilities." Luke 16:10, NLT

We are honored to create and collaborate with you as we curate a collection that Adorns the Beloved with the inherent truth and beauty of the gospel. Thank you for allowing us to step into your story, albeit brief, but in return, giving you a tangible heirloom that carries His eternal promises.
